How to Market and Promote Your Corporate Event (Without the Headache)

You’ve booked the venue, finalised the speakers, and got the catering locked in. Now the big question… how do you actually get people to show up?

Promoting your corporate event can feel overwhelming, but with a little planning (and a few tricks of the trade), you can create buzz, fill those seats, and build real excitement around your brand.

Here’s how to get the word out and get results.

1. Start with a Clear Message

Before you hit ‘post’ on anything, get crystal clear on the basics:

– What is your event about?

– Who is it for?

– What will they get out of it?

– Your message should highlight the benefits of attending, not just the logistics. Think: “Learn practical leadership tips from top HR speakers” instead of “HR conference, 10am – 4pm.”

2. Create a Landing Page or Event Hub

Whether it’s on your website, Eventbrite, or LinkedIn Events, this is where everything lives. Include:

– Eye-catching visuals

– A compelling description

– Speaker bios

– The full agenda (if available)

– Easy registration

If you’re running multiple campaigns, always direct people back here!

If design isn’t your thing or you’re not sure where to start with social media campaigns, don’t be afraid to outsource – a little expert help can go a long way and often saves you time (and money!) in the long run.

3. Use Social Media – But Strategically

Don’t just shout into the void. Create a little plan:

Countdown posts – “Only 2 weeks to go!”

Speaker shout-outs – Share mini bios, quote cards or behind-the-scenes prep.

Event teasers – Photos of the venue, sneak peeks at gift bags, etc.

Call-to-actions – “Tag a colleague who needs to be there!”

✨ Pro tip: Use event-specific hashtags and encourage speakers or sponsors to share your posts too.

4. Email Marketing Still Works (and Works Well)

Your mailing list is gold. Create a simple email campaign:

– Save the date

– Why they should attend

– Guest speakers and what they’ll cover

– Final push / last few tickets remaining

✨ Top tip: Keep emails short and visually engaging. Nobody’s reading walls of text on their phone or has the attention span now-a-days!

5. Make the Most of Your Network

Your employees, speakers, sponsors, and even attendees can be your best promoters! Provide them with pre-written posts, images, and hashtags to share on their own channels. The easier you make it, the more likely they are to help.

You could even offer them an affiliate link, giving their audience a discount on tickets while rewarding your promoters with a little kickback too – win-win!

6. Tap into LinkedIn

LinkedIn is your best friend for corporate events.

– Set up an event page

– Post regularly from your business and personal profile

– Use LinkedIn articles or polls to spark engagement

– Join relevant local or industry groups to share the details

Don’t forget to update your profile banner with the event branding!

7. Add a Bit of Personality

People buy into people, not just polished logos and agendas. Show some behind-the-scenes prep, film a short video invite, or share why the event matters to your business. It builds trust and helps your event feel more human.

8. Don’t Forget Post-Event Marketing

Your promotion shouldn’t stop when the event ends! Share highlights, tag attendees, post speaker sound bites, and keep the buzz going. It’s a great way to build momentum for the next event.
